"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." Somehow, I don't think that this saying is always true. I've watched an episode of Medical Investigation and it was about a bunch of girls who suddenly went down with some sort of disease... and it turns out that they were taking slimming pills which were actually (get this) tapeworm larvae. The tapeworm larvae ate all the food that the girls consumed, leading to some sort of malnutrition 'cause the tapeworm just adsorbs all the food they eat. The point is, the girls took those dangerous slimming pills all 'cause they were teased as "fat pigs" in school... so isn't this a case of "names can hurt you?" (If anyone was wondering about what happened to the girls in the show, they survived.) Something of the sort happened to a relative of mine, except it ended up with a death. According to my dad, my relative was scolded by her father (presumably one of my uncles) for only getting like, 5As in her PMR or something similar. She killed herself (don't ask me how.) So... don't believe in everything you read!
