The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Yes, I've finally watched Narnia. It was so good! The cinematography and scenery was awesome, New Zealand is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L (the setting for the land of Narnia). The casting of the characters were appropriate, Edmund (Skandar Keynes) looked very inch the traitor that he is... I felt like I wanted to slap him for betraying Narnia. Peter was like the book described, and my sis swooned over him, well, I guess he is good looking and tall. Susan was just well, plain looking. Lucy was adorable, with her bugsy teeth and innocent smile. The witch was oh my, just so EVIL, though in the book she's supposed to be a brunette, ha ha ha, she must have dyed her hair blonde for the movie. Aslan, oh wow, he is so regal and commanding. He doesn't look like a CGI character at all. The battle scenes were so realistic, I could almost feel the heat of the battle. Congratulations, Andrew Adamson, for directing your first live action film. I loved Shrek, and I love Narnia even more!

So close, yet so far?!!?

Went to The Star office this morning to supposedly get passes to watch Narnia. Bought a freaking RM 3 Galaxie mag to redeem for those passes. GOD! Line was so long, and the tickets were all finished before I got to the reception. It just goes to show that Malaysians will go to all ends to get something that is free.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I managed to get back the 2 free passes to watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire... actually my dad did. He cooked up a story about being out of the country and stuff, and managed to collect 2 tix. At a special premiere at GSC Mid Valley, 9.30 pm, yesterday (15th November, Tuesday). Anyway, there were some really crazy fans at the special screening... I saw this Malay girl wearing Gryffindor robes and holding a "wand"... damn funny lah... and they had this special 3D board in front of the cinema, and there were VIP signatures there... I actually saw Jojo Struys's signature there! Too bad I didn't have my camera phone with me, otherwise I would have taken a pix. The movie took so unbelieveably long to start... we watched trailers for Ice Age 2, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Narnia and King Kong. When the movie actually started, someone actually bellowed, "Harry Potter!" and everybody laughed. The movie was good, but they cut out a lot of parts in the movie, such as Hermione's S.P.E.W project, and the spider and the sphinx in the maze challenge. But it was really scary and dark, especially in the maze challenge scene. The hedges are like alive and they actually swallowed Fleur Delacour (Clemence Posey) up (and she was really pretty I tell you). Viktor Krum was really jockish, looked like a regular idiot (why Hermione fell for him I can't imagine). Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson) was good looking and tall, just like the book said (my sis said he was divine - he has really high cheekbones... pity he died at the end of the movie.) Harry and Ron's hairstyle is really hideous... Daniel Radcliffe's acting is just as wooden as ever, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson is good. But I think they could have done a better job with Cho Chang (Katie Leung)... she's just so fat and so Scottish (she pronounces "go" as "goo") and so Asian... and she's going to kiss Harry in the Order of the Phoenix! Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) was so creepy and evil... and so horrifyingly ugly... he looks like a half-deformed skeleton. And the Dark Mark was so cool! My favourite scene was the Underwater Challenge Scene... the Merpeople and the Grindylows are so ugly, but it was so different from the book. I won't ponder on it, check the differences yourself. Anyway, overall it's a good movie. I give it a rating of 4/5. Now that I've watched Harry Potter, I'm looking forward to the Chronicles of Narnia!

I had a better singing voice. 9. I had less idiotic teachers. 10. I could pizza as much as I want and never get fat or endanger my health.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." Somehow, I don't think that this saying is always true. I've watched an episode of Medical Investigation and it was about a bunch of girls who suddenly went down with some sort of disease... and it turns out that they were taking slimming pills which were actually (get this) tapeworm larvae. The tapeworm larvae ate all the food that the girls consumed, leading to some sort of malnutrition 'cause the tapeworm just adsorbs all the food they eat. The point is, the girls took those dangerous slimming pills all 'cause they were teased as "fat pigs" in school... so isn't this a case of "names can hurt you?" (If anyone was wondering about what happened to the girls in the show, they survived.) Something of the sort happened to a relative of mine, except it ended up with a death. According to my dad, my relative was scolded by her father (presumably one of my uncles) for only getting like, 5As in her PMR or something similar. She killed herself (don't ask me how.) So... don't believe in everything you read!

Bad Timing

Wtf... I can't believe I missed 2 tickets to the premiere of Harry Potter! Aaagrh! I went to www.hboasia.com right? And then I decided to take part in the online contest... u probably guessed what the prize is right? Anyway, I took part (3 times, using my father's, mother's and my name) and then just forgot about the whole thing... don't ask me why! And then on the date that this post was published, I got an SMS from my sis saying I missed the 2 tickets... supposed to collect it on 11th November (friday)... But how was I to know? They sent it to my dad's gmail account! And then my dad blames me for like not checking his email cause I entered the competition and everything... and hogging the laptop and stuff... but hey! He was on the laptop for a pretty long time as well and all he was did was play Spider Solitaire! WTF! Anyway it's HIS email, HE should check it himself!!!! Not that I'm like pissed out or anything about the tickets, cause Jak already promised to take me to watch once he came back to KL, but just the prospect of losing those tickets is just too painful!!! AAGRH!

Singaporeans vs. Malaysians

Singaporeans are like the most unfriendly and nastiest people around. Take my relatives for instance... aunt X is like so typical singaporean... bossy b**** that she is... her sons are just as bad... the older one is OK, but the younger one, eeesh! (who is coincidentally, cousin Y) talking to him is like talking to a bloody hell PIG with a stuck on private part (hahahaha) I'm being serious... the nastiness and unfriendliness of singaporeans is also reflected in their hawker / street food... theirs is nothing compared to the real deal in malaysia... i mean, there's one thing I can shout "Malaysia boleh!" about! My sister, who has been studying in Sing all this while, complains about the "kiasuness" and "kiaseeness" of Singaporeans... P.S. Why do male lions let the female lions do all the hunting? They must be one of the useless animals in the animal kingdom! Kids, never believe in The Lion King, seriously... it's a CONSPIRACY!!!!

School

I mean, half the things you learn in school is pretty useless right (as in common life)? Sure, you'll need to know about quadrants and all that stuff if you become, let's say, a uni prof etc. But hey, if u can't work, go teach! I mean, not all information is bad... but it's just that the education is let's see... boring, dodrum, detached, and just plain bad. I've heard that the American education system is good... the British one is like, bad... no wonder Britons are like that!!!

A Tale of Two Authors... and the stories they wrote

Both are authors... to be exact, wrtiters of children's books. Both have 2 intials in their names. Both have written a series of books... Lewis with his Chronicles of Narnia, Rowling with her Harry Potter series. Both of these series are about enchantment. The Chronicles of Narnia is about a magical world called Narnia ruled by a lion named Aslan, in which a group of children enter via a wardrobe. Harry Potter is about a boy named Harry Potter who discovers he is a wizard on his eleventh birthday. And now, the differences. In Harry Potter, the dark side seems to triumph over the good many times over. To HP fans out there, I'm sure you know what I mean with the death of Harry's parents and godfather Sirius Black, and recently in the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the tragic murder of Albus Dumbeldore. And no one can beat death in this series. In contrast, the heroes of the land of Narnia seem to achieve victory during every battle with evil. To readers of the Narnia books, in The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe, Aslan manages to overcome death when he is executed at the Stone Table. C.S. Lewis is a male, while J.K. Rowling is a female. And that is all I have to say because I am sick of this posting SERIOUSLY!
